Now, I present you with our first post... THE HIDDEN TREE!
The Hanging Tree made a debut on Billboard's Hot 100 and was featured in Mockingjay - Part 1, but also featured some hidden effects that have to do with the story line.
HIDDEN #1
I was listening to The Hanging Tree today, when I came across something interesting. Katniss is singing, but is joined by those in the districts.
Watch the video below by starting at 1:44 and ending at 2:22.
As the districts start to sing, Katniss' voice begins to quiet. I found this interesting, because I thought of how this could be referring to how The Hunger Games turns from just about Katniss to being about the whole nation. This is just a thought, but it has been on my mind all day.
HIDDEN #2
The most obvious connection is between Katniss and Peeta. In Catching Fire, before Katniss and Peeta are split, Katniss says, "See you at midnight." In The Hanging Tree, Katniss ends each verse with, "If we met, at midnight, in The Hanging Tree." Some might suggest that this is describing how Katniss feels at the time (which could by why she choose it). She feels hopeless, and wants Peeta to do ANYTHING to get out of the Capitol's torture.
